Improving the Welsh Dairy Supply Chain

 The current Farming Connect Dairy Development Programme contract ended on 31 August 2011

From 1 September 2011 until the end of the current RDP period in 2013,  Menter a Busnes will deliver the knowledge transfer programme on behalf of Farming Connect.

  • Kingshay Wales data shows that between February and March the average milk yield decreased by 0.8 litres/day (3.2%) to 25.9 litres/day.
  • Butterfat levels stood at 4.08% for March, up 0.01 of a percentage point from February.
  • Protein levels remained at 3.23% in March.
  • The average milk price in Wales increased by 0.65ppl to 25.63ppl in March.

The tables above show the average performance of herds using the Kingshay Dairy Manager recording system. The figures in the tables should be examined with care. Although the sample is relatively large, the figures are not necessarily representative of the performance of average UK dairy cows.
